What Old City feels like

The Old City is a compact district at the northeastern edge of downtown, known for historic brick buildings, restaurants, nightlife and live music. Its scale makes it easy to combine with a Downtown visit, but the streetscape feels different enough to merit its own stop.

The district grew around Knoxville’s railroad and wholesale era, and that industrial-commercial character is still visible in the brick facades and older buildings. Today the Old City blends that history with dining, bars, music venues and small businesses. It is busiest at night and on event weekends, while daytime offers a quieter look at the architecture.
