What Downtown Knoxville feels like
Downtown is Knoxville’s most concentrated mix of restaurants, public spaces, theaters, hotels, offices and historic architecture. It is the easiest part of the city to explore without a car once you are parked, and it works equally well for an afternoon wander, a pre-show dinner or a full weekend base.
Market Square and Gay Street form the best-known spine, but downtown also reaches toward World’s Fair Park, the riverfront, the Old City edge and the blocks around the convention center. The personality changes quickly from block to block: busy event streets, quieter historic corners, public art, performance venues and green space all sit close together.
